Most people think that once the Karthigai Deepam jothi flame is lit (on the Karthigai Deepam Day) at the peak of the Arunachala Hill, that's all there's to it and it's all over. NOT SO. The Deepam flame is lit every evening at the top of the Arunachala Hill for the next 10 days too (12 days if there is enough ghee and cloth for the giant wick.) Getting the darshan of not only the Karthigai Deepam jothi, but also the Arunachala Jothi flame on all these 10 days after the Karthigai Deepam is a wonderful blessing, said Sathguru Venkataraman. (Instead of just 10 days, this should really be a full two weeks.
