Sandalwood is a property of the Maharishis, NOT of man

Siddha Sathguru Venkataraman would say that sandalwood is a celestial substance that belongs only to the Maharishis and Siddhas for use in worship of the divine deity forms. When Sathguru Venkataraman was a kid, his Siddha teacher Idiyaappa Eesa Siddhar once pointed out a sandalwood tree to him. He then asked the kid to look closely at the tree. What do you think that little kid Venkataraman saw? He saw rishis engaged in tapasya (penance) on every leaf of that sandalwood tree! Recounting this experience, Siddha Sathguru Venkataraman would later tell us, "Every piece of sandalwood belongs to the Siddhas and Rishis. It must be used ONLY for worship and worship alone. By the grace of my Guru, I saw it with my own eyes." So at least from today, realize this sacred truth that sandalwood is NOT for serving man's greed and desire. It is for serving God and God alone, in accordance with the rules laid down by Siddhas and Maharishis. Sandalwood trees must be planted and nurtured as sacred, spiritual projects. Sandalwood must be used for worship and worship alone. Ohm.
